Final September PL page

I wanted to make my last PL page for September today so I went to the "SKETCHES IN THYME PL STYLE"  Blog to get my inspiration for my first card.   I rotated it to fit my picture.   I used a picture I took last week of one of my plants in full fall splendor.   I just cropped it to print as a 2x6 picture to work with the sketch..

Here is the sketch I used and click  HERE for all the details.      Then below that my completed
last PL page for September.

Is it Fall or Christmas time

I  decided since the weather is cooling off and I'm not feeling any layout vibes right now, I would start making a few Christmas cards.   It seems I can always find plenty of people to send to.
Christmas in July got me started with a few this year, but I never made them all.  So I need to get busy.

I found this challenge at "ABC CHRISTMAS CHALLENGE" and decided to start here.

The two week challenge going on now is   "T is for Two"    Easy peasy, use two of something.  Well I used to patterned papers and I have two turtle doves as the theme for my card.

Check out all the details   HERE   and see what everyone else made.

Then I saw the challenge at  "WEEKLY CHRISTMAS CARD CHALLENGES"  and this weeks challenge is  Anything Goes just so long as it is a holiday card.

You can check out this challenge   HERE for more details.

Plus I love to check out the challenges at "PAUSE DREAM ENJOY"  the challenge #140 that is starting today is also an Anything Goes challenge.   So I will also enter this Christmas card here.

Check out this challenge blog too right HERE.

SMOKIN'

Arthur has been feeding us well this last week with my Dad and Brother in town for the week.
One night we had BBQ ribs and another night we did a Beer Butt Chicken on the smoker.
First chicken other than wings we have done in the smoker.    Both meals were delicious.

This is my reveal for the first week of September sketch at   "SKETCHES IN THYME"

I'm rushing to get this made before I have to go out of town so I made a very minimal layout from the sketch.   Check out all the details here at  "SKETCHES IN THYME"   and come back every day this week to see what other design team members do.

Back to School

This is my first layout in over a week.    The one I posted yesterday I had made about 10 days ago but had never blogged about it.

I'm entering this in 3 challenges.    First off is the challenge at  "ANOTHER FREAKING SCRAPPY CHALLENGE"   (i just love the blog name)   the September challenge is  Back to School theme and to use the color red in your layout.    I wish I had more of this red abc paper but this is the end of it.  I just had this one square left.   I think it pops on the layout.   This is probably my last back to school layout for this year.   This is my granddaughter down in Orlando.

The next challenge is at the "PAPER ISSUES"  Facebook group.   Their challenge called Roll the Dice and the #'s this month was 5 and 2 so you had to use 5 different patterned papers and 2 pictures.
That is what I have here with this layout.

Then I also have a yahoo scrappy group  "SCRAPPIN N CHATTIN" and one of the monthly challenges there was to use something you had been hoarding.    This back to school sign was something I had gotten in a swap at least 5 years ago.    So here I finally used it.

Check out the challenge at "ANOTHER FREAKING SCRAPPY CHALLENGE"  here, still a few days to enter.

Out and About with Silas

Another layout to add to the album of my great nephew Silas.    His album is getting so big.   I don't know if his Moms will be able to take it back to Australia with them after they get it Christmas.  It could put their baggage over the weight limit.

I made a double page with these pictures of all of them all out exploring one weekend.
I used the sketch from   "STICK IT DOWN"   the double page sketch was perfect.

Here is the sketch and just go to the   "STICK IT DOWN"  blog to get all the details to all the challenges for September.

#1 Fan

Dad taught me the love of baseball and even thought I have lived in Kansas City the majority of my adult life, my favorite team is still across the state with the St. Louis Cardinals.

I've gotten lax in watching baseball but Dad is still the #1 Fan.   He has gone to many games over the years and watched every other single game on TV.

Since the Baseball Village area was completed just over a year ago in St. Louis he has been wanting to go and see it and go to the Cardinal Hall of Fame Museum.

Dad is 93 and just this was diagnosed with cancer, he is on two cancer drugs and after 6 weeks one started really making him sick, he couldn't eat, he couldn't do much past sleep off and on.  But finally after about 9 days he started feeling good again so my brother and I surprised him and we took a day trip into St. Louis and had lunch in the Ballpark Village and then walked around and went to the museum.  It was great.  We even got to swing some of the bats used by players now and then.
Dad used Willie McGees bat and I tried out Yadier Molina.    We had a great trip.

For this layout I used the Jump Start Sketch challenge for September at  "THE SCRAP ROOM BLOG"   Used some cardinal red card stock and then 3 different patterned papers that are baseball themed.   From the one paper I cut out some single baseballs to put around the circle I drew with
black marker so it would stand out more.    Then just added my memorabilia ticket and I had my layout finished.

I am also going to enter this at "PAPER ISSUES" for their  "Take 5" challenge.    The 5 things I used from the challenge are  1. Red   2. # symbol   3. Number   4. 2 patterned papers & 5. memorabilia.

Here is the sketch.

Labor Day PL page

I used sketch #42 at  "SKETCHES IN THYME PL STYLE"  to make the title card for my 2nd
labor day weekend PL page.   My grandkids were in town so  had both my kids and my grands together for the weekend.   So plenty of pictures to include on PL pages.

Here is the completed PL page

Here is the sketch I used for the card   and go   HERE  to see what the other design team members did this week with the sketch.   You have all month to enter all the weekly PL card sketches.

Back to School Day 1

I love how my daughter-in-law always does the same sign for the first day of school.
I can't believe Kai is already in 5th grade and that Mylan is in elementary school too.
Crazy how fast they grow.   I was just thinking the other day about being at the hospital the night Kai was born and holding him when he was less than an hour old.    Time flies.

I used the sketch #112  at   "SKETCH N SCRAP"   to make this back to school layout.

Here is the sketch and click HERE for all the details for all the challenges this month.

Bath Time

Leslie and Jason rescued a dog abandoned in the country.   They tried to find the owner but no one claimed him.   So Otis  ( the black and white dog, top right picture) is now the newest member of the family along with rescue dog Chopper from DC and Malcolm rescued in Columbia.

Otis came with several fleas so all the dogs got a couple of flea baths to get rid of them.
I love all the 4 legged grand dogs, but I think this is the limit.   Just saying.

I used Make It Monday #71 at for this layout.

Here is the sketch and check out the monthly sketch   HERE.

It's a Girl

This is my first layout for September.   I've been out of town for a week so was glad to finally make a layout today.

Yesterday my daughter found out they are having a little girl.   We have all been waiting this sonogram so when she texted me the picture I knew it would be my first layout this month.

Good thing I still have some pink baby paper left from my other granddaughter.   Because I'm going to be needing more.   In 4 months there will be tons of baby layouts to make.

I used the single page sketch at  "STICK IT DOWN"  for this layout.    Here is the sketch and
click   HERE  for all the details of the challenge.

September PL title card

I am doing PL style scrapping this year by the month instead of weekly, just seems to work better for me as its just the two of here at home so don't always have a lot to add.   Even I get tired of looking at the same food pictures of our dinners each day.   LOL

But here is what will start this month out with.      I used the week 1 sketch at "SKETCHES IN THYME PL STYLE"  for this card.     It worked out perfectly for a title card and I hope to see lots of you joining the challenge.

Here is the sketch and click   HERE   for all the details and check each day to see what other design team members make.
