Hurricane Smores

My granddaughters Avery and Dylan live in Orlando and of course they were effected with weather by Hurricane Matthew.    They didn't lose power or anything, just lots and lots of wind and rain.
But they were prepared and made smores inside and just stayed happy and dry.

The challenge this week at   "LASTING MEMORIES"  is  'Glitter and Glam'     The burnt orange paper on the left is a glitter paper and also the flower I fussy cut from a full sheet of 12x12 paper and it is glittered also.   Then I just added a strip of rhinestones and pearls and that is my glam.

Check out what all the design team members did and all the details for the challenge here at

American Girls

Today was my only full scrapping day for the next 10.   I might have some time tomorrow but you never know.     I already had this picture printed out of my granddaughter Avery and when I saw the November Week 3 sketch this morning at    "LET'S GET SKETCHY"  I  knew it would be perfect for this picture.      I had fun picking the papers.   I went to my tall stack of single sheet papers.   This is
where I put singles I buy or the odd and end piece or two from a collection.     I used 4 different papers (small flowers & polka dot paper are A and B sides of one) and all from different manufacturers but the colors all went great together I thought.

I matted the picture with a thin black card stock and then inked the edges of all the papers with black ink.   But the small strip of pink polka dot paper edged with green is actually from the tear strip of the
paper and I just cut it out as would work perfect size wise.

So check out the sketch below and go to    "LET'S GET SKETCHY"   to get all the challenge details.

PONY EXPRESS MUSEUM TOUR

About a month ago when my Dad and Brother were in time, we took a day trip about an hour north
of Kansas City to St. Joseph, MO and toured a few museums there.   The first being the Pony Express Museum.   We saw the sight where the first Pony Express rider left from.

I had plenty of pictures, plus my memorabilia pamphlet so I had to find just the right sketch to use.
That took me right to the Nov. 15th sketch at   "LET'S SCRAP"     It was perfect to showcase some
of my pictures I took.

Here is the sketch and check out all the details and DT layouts here at  "LET'S SCRAP"

Fun and Games

I used this grid design for my layout taking it from the "MY CREATIVE SKETCHES"  November sketch.       The last couple of days I've been making layouts from pictures of my daughters baby shower last Sunday.   This page, as in its title, is about the fun we had, decorating two onsies per person for the baby and the the games of how fast you could diaper and then swaddle a stuffed animal.    It was a great shower and we all had fun.

Here is the sketch and just go to  "MY CREATIVE SKETCHES"  to see what the Design team did with the sketch.   There is a lot of inspiration there.

Trick or Treat Golf Cart Style

I keep finding Halloween pictures I want to scrap.    Going to have two of the four kids we share and the grandkids in town the first weekend in December so I'm trying to get all their layouts made so I can send them home with them.   Barbara's family in Orlando we haven't seen in a year so have a lot to give to  here.   David's family across the state in St. Louis we see a lot more often so they get layouts every time, but will still have their Halloween layouts, like this one, and some more ready for them.

I used the November 1st sketch at   "STUCK ?! SKETCHES"   for this layout.      I went with a solid black card stock background and then just added my colors with the patterned papers I used.

Here is the sketch and you have till the end of the month to enter.   Plus the Nov. 15th sketch was just announced too, so be sure and check it all out at   "STUCK ?! SKETCHES"

Save the Turkey

It's that time of year for all the turkeys to take cover, unless you are the lucky one that the President pardons each year.    I think this one is asking for that pardon.

I am entering this card for the challenge at   "SIMPLY CREATE TOO"      Challenge #122 is.....
'Gobble Gobble'   ( you must have a turkey on your creation )

Check out the challenge here at   "SIMPLY CREATE TOO"

Baby Shower

So glad I had saved the sketch from  "LET'S SKETCH"     I finally had the right pictures to use with it from Leslie's baby shower yesterday.    I have a couple more layouts to make from the pictures I took and that one of her friends took and posted but with only hours left to enter at "LET'S SKETCH"  I wanted to get this one made first.    The lighting wasn't great for perfect pictures, but I still took a lot.   I knew this was one event I would scrapping a lot of.   My other layouts will be one of the great brunch we had and then another one of the fun and games we had.   And this double page layout is obviously of her opening her gifts.   We all loved it when an old friend came in with 3 cases of pampers with a stick-on bow on each box.   It got her other friend from highs school days talking about as she was wrapping her gifts that morning, her mother-in-law was visiting and said her wrapping just would not do and took over, and couldn't understand how she didn't have double sided tape and her tape would show on the paper.    Good times.

Here is the sketch  and click on this link   "LET'S SKETCH"   to get all the details.

Mylan Scores

My granddaughter has become quite the soccer player.   I wish I lived closer so I could see her play, she plays spring and fall soccer so I'm sure I'll get a chance.

The newest challenge at   "LASTING MEMORIES"   is   'Triangles'.   This goes with our monthly
challenge theme of "Shapes"
I only used 4 triangles on my corners but I like how it turned out.
Check out all the details here at   "LASTING MEMORIES"

We hope to see a lot of you joining in on this challenge and all the weekly challenges.

A card of thanks for Thanksgiving

I was making Thanksgiving cards the last couple of days and getting them all ready to mail out
on Monday.   I saw the challenge at "NACHO AVERAGE CHALLENGES"  and decided to
make this as one of my Thanksgiving cards.   I am so thankful to be spending the day with the
majority of my family.    Only my son from Texas won't be with us, but he will be home for Christmas.

The challenge at "NACHO AVERAGE CHALLENGES"   is gratitude.    And gratitude is being thankful for all you have.

A Haunting We Will Go

Finally got a couple of pictures of Kai and Mylan at Halloween down in Texas.    I sure miss them, I remember 4 years ago when they lived here in Kansas City, I went out in the neighborhood with them trick or treating.   Fun times.

I once again used the November sketch at   "PICTURE THIS"   to make a Halloween layout.
It's a fun sketch and got to use different patterned papers on it.

Check out the sketch below and all the details here at    "PICTURE THIS"

There's No Place Like the Craft Room

When I saw the first challenge of the month at "SCRAP OUR STASH CHALLENGE BLOG"
I wondered how I could come up with something to go with the book title inspired challenge.

Then my daughter-in-law posted these pictures of the kids on Facebook.   She said the Gibson and
Addisyn had been going wild all afternoon and would calm down.    So downstairs to the craft area she has set up for them and it was the perfect thing to get them to sit and create and not be so rambunctious.     So   besides going with the colors of the cover, blue and yellow  I made my own title like the book also.   "There's No Place Like the Craft Room"   I added 4 wood veneer stars and also two other pieces of wood veneer for my embellishments.

Check out   "SCRAP OUR STASH"   and be inspired like I was.

Home for the Holidays

There is nothing like having everyone together for the holidays and for many years now we have
all congregated at my brothers house.      So this will be the card I will be sending him this year.

I made this card for the November card challenge at  "STICK IT DOWN"       All you have to
do is use a big sentiment.  You have till the end of November to enter any or all of the three challenges for the month.

I am also entering this card at    "SCRAPPING 4 FUN CHALLENGES"    Challenge #78
is Christmas.   You can make a card like I did or a layout, mixed media, canvas or anything
you want with the theme of Christmas.   You have until midnight November 24th,European time.

Happy Halloween

I don't usually get a variety of good pictures of my Granddaughters in Orlando to scrap for Halloween, but this year is an exception.   I think I'm going to be able to make Halloween layouts.
This is the second one.

I used the sketch at   "THE MEMORY NEST"    for this one, featuring a variety of circles.
I loved it because I just pulled out all my Halloween scraps of paper and cut out different sizes
of circles.    I love using up scraps.

Here is the sketch and go to  "THE MEMORY NEST"  to see what all the design team made,
there are some awesome layouts there.

Fancy Nancy & Jo Jo

I have to admit I have no idea who Fancy Nancy and Jo Jo are until I looked closely at another picture my step-daughter posted of the girls and in that one there was a Fancy Nancy book in the picture.     So Avery was Fancy Nancy and her little sister Dylan was little sister Jo Jo.
I thought they were really cute.

I used the November sketch at   "PICTURE THIS"  for the layout.    It was perfect to showcase
a picture of each of them.

It was fun going thru my stack of Halloween papers to find patterns I wanted to use with the pictures.
I just added a touch of pink with my card stock to pul some of the colors in their costume.

Here is the sketch and you can go to   "PICTURE THIS"  and get more details.   The challenge is open until the end of November.

Another Thanksgiving card

This is going to be my day to make Thanksgiving cards,   I think I only need one more, I already had some made, so the push is on.

For this card I'm entering this card in three different challenges.

I started with the sketch at   "TRY STAMPING -OR NOT- ON TUESDAY"    The sketch is for challenge #296, you had the option of also using the sketch for a Thanksgiving card which I did.
I loved this sketch because I could look at it and know I would get to use a variety of patterned papers together and also do some matting on the papers, that I really like to do to have them stand out.
Here is the sketch....

Next I went to the challenge #418  at   "THE COLOR THROWDOWN"    The colors from this weeks photo inspiration are Orange, Rust, Teal & Copper.     I was inspired with all the colors and used them all including three copper pearls on my card.   I also used the leaf as inspiration and added one also to my card.   Here is the photo inspiration with the colors......

Finally I will enter my card at   "SHOPPING OUR STASH"     This weeks challenge #277 is
"Gobble 'til you Wobble"  and that will be just what my family will be doing in just over a week when  we gather together for our Thanksgiving celebration.       I really shopped my stash on this one because I used everything from my scrap drawer with the exception of the teal card stock and the square with the leaf on it.

Thanksgiving Card

I have to hurry and get all my Thanksgiving cards made so I can mail no later than Monday.

I'm going to enter this card in two challenges.

First I used the colors in the challenge #367  at   "COLOUR Q"   Here are the colors for the challenge.....

Next I am entering the challenge at   "USE YOUR STUFF "   at their challenge......

Challenge #240 -----   Fall Y'All      The challenge was to do a project of your favorite thing about fall and  to me Thanksgiving is the culmination of the Fall season.

Celebrate @ Union Station

As soon as i saw this single page sketch at    "STICK IT DOWN"    I thought it was perfect for Christmas pictures.   I had already made a layout of special ornaments from last year I thought about all the pictures I took at Union Station over the holiday season.    We went there about 3 times during the season last year so I had a lot of pictures to choose from.

Here is the sketch  and just click   HERE  for all the details and to see what the design team did.

Trick or Treat

Entering this in the double Scrappy Friends challenge.

t was scary but I really pulled out all the Halloween papers for this layout.  I actually have 6 different patterned papers.    Might be hard to find them all, 3 are black backgrounds,  my candy pull background paper,  the house and people/ghost strip thru the middle to the right edge, and then the row of pumpkins at the bottom is cut from another of patterned paper.   #4 is the purple/blue/green stripped paper thru the middle of the layout,  #5 is the circle cut from purple paper with witches hats and finally #6 I used twice, the white trick or treat paper.     I used one strip for the title and one behind the picture.     Now looking at this again you might say I have 2 other patterns with the stripes on the candy tags on the left of the picture and the orange & black dots on the give me candy sticker.
Plus for my matting of some of the patterns and the picture I used two different shades of orange and also green card stock.

This layout all came together using the sketch at "GRAND DIVA'S CREATIVE CORNER"  When I was looking at it I knew it would be the perfect sketch to really use a lot of different papers.   So
since Halloween was just over,  I had those papers out and plenty of pictures of the grandkids to scrap.

Next to go with the This and That challenge at  "ROCHELLE SPEARS BLOG"   I  chose to add wood to my layout.   The oval where I have 2016 in stickers is wood veneer and I used that for
my only journaling of the date of this Halloween picture.  The on the left edge of the picture I added 3 wood veneer potty people, 2 boys and one girl for my three, about to be in a sugar coma grandkids.

Go to each blog for the details.

Fresh from the Source

When we went out for the day back in October to Pumpkin Patches and Apple Orchards I have to admit my reason for going were to have some fresh apple goodies.

At our first stop I doubled up on my apple intake.  I had a bowl of fresh made hot spiced apples.
It was fantastic.   Then I've never been known to pass up a caramel apple.    These had been made that morning from apples picked in the orchard.    I carried that back to the car to have on the road to our next stop.   Then I was drawn to stop into a couple of big apples trees full of bright red apples, close to where we parked for pictures from the source.

I used the Nov 1st sketch, Sketch #116 at  "SKETCH N SCRAP"  for this layout.   It was perfect
for the 2 pictures of the two of us out in the orchard and then my apple treats I bought at the little
cafe there.   Making this layout today took me right into the kitchen for an apple to eat.   Good thing
I bought a couple at the grocery store yesterday.

Here is the sketch and click on  "SKETCH N SCRAP"  to see all the challenges they will have during the month of November.

October PL

I made this card for my title card for October for my PL album.    I'm doing monthly pages and not trying to keep up with weekly pages.   Sometimes it seems I make more but sometimes it takes 2 weeks to get enough pages.     This will be my reveal for the first week of Novembers sketch at
"SKETCHES IN THYME PL STYLE"      I have the card sketch by our own Shawn Stiles Lahr below and then below that is may full PL page I did with pictures from the first few days of October.

Click here on  "SKETCHES IN THYME PL STYLE"  to see more details of the challenge and come back every day to see what more design team members have done.    Plus there is a new sketch to work with every week.

Patio Extension Project

We had a big patio extension done last month and I took a lot of pictures during the 8 days of work.
I knew I would end  up making a layout about it but wasn't sure just how I would do it.

When I saw the new sketch #300  at  "CREATIVE SCRAPPERS"  this morning I knew it was just what I wanted to work with for some of these pictures.   I ended up using 7 pictures and then had a title square and a journaling square.

Check out the sketch below and go to "CREATIVE SCRAPPERS"  for all the details and to see what the design team did with the sketch.
